A comprehensive Dutch elm disease (DED) survey was recently completed on Yorkton’s urban forest. On July 7 and 8, 2024, Living Tree Environmental Ltd. conducted a full visual inspection of American elm trees within the boundaries of the city to identify and mark for removal all DED symptomatic trees, and to detect any elm wood storage/pruning violations. Phase 1 UPDATE - Water Main Replacement on McBurney Drive

The Water Main Replacement on McBurney is now approximately 40% completed, with Phase 1 reaching 80% completion. On July 4 and 5, most residents in Phase 1 were successfully taken off temporary water and reconnected to their permanent water service.
Over the next two weeks, residents can expect ongoing roadwork and concrete work as the project continues to advance. The project team remains committed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring a smooth transition as the work progresses.

York Road Reconstruction Phase 5

Phase 4 is 80% complete, completion of this phase is expected as soon as possible, but recent weather has caused some delays. Phase 5 of the York Road Reconstruction will begin Monday, July 8, 2024.
Road Closures along York Road will be extended from First Avenue North to Gladstone Avenue North, with a detour in place on Second Avenue North for local traffic and vehicles accessing business along York Road.

Phase 4 of the York Road Reconstruction is approximately 80% complete.
This phase included some of the largest and most significant infrastructure improvements of the entire project, some of the major improvements included a
- Key drainage channel on the north end of the City; and
- Large box culverts were installed across York Road to improve stormwater removal from many inner City areas.
